Diagnostic laparoscopy belongs to the minimally invasive diagnostic methods, as it requires a minimal incision. This procedure involves inserting a high-resolution camera and instruments through a small incision in the abdomen.
Laparoscopy allows the doctor to see the interior of the examined environment in real time.
At the same time, along with the visual examination, the doctor can perform sampling of the material (biopsy) using additional instruments.
Laparoscopy is performed for various gynecologic conditions, abdominal pain and suspected endometriosis. It is also done during the sterility test, when the patency of the fallopian tubes is tested.
The intervention lasts up to 30 minutes and the patient is discharged home the same day.
